Visible Internet (hereafter, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and values its relationship with you. We will be clear and transparent about the information we are collecting from you and what we will do with that information.

Purpose of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which we will process any personal data we collect from you that you provide to us when we contact you, when you visit our website at or when you use our mobile application (“Visible Internet App”). and the Visible Internet App (together, the “Visible Internet Services”) are operated by Visible Internet and distributed by IG3 Education.

We advise you to read this privacy policy carefully together with any other privacy notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal data about you so that you are aware of how and why we are using your data. This privacy policy supplements the other policies and notices and does not override them.

Changes to this Privacy Policy 

This version of the Privacy Policy was last updated in March 2021. Any changes we make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page. Please check back frequently to see any updates or changes to our privacy policy.

Your continued use of our services and/or our website constitutes your consent to our privacy policy. 

What Personal Data Do We Collect?

Personal data does not refer to student data.  Information on how we use and protect student data may be found here.

Visible Internet collects personal data that may identify you, or that could be combined by us or our service providers and affiliates with other information to identify you. The personal data may include your name, company/school, email address, internet protocol (IP) address, cookie ID, username, computer hostname, password, product/service preferences or contact preferences.

When using services provided by, or hosted by Visible Internet, additional information related to your access and usage of the products is also collected.

Why do we Collect Personal Data?

Personal information is collected to provide products and services and to manage our business operations. For example, your information may be used to:

  1. Register your account;
  2. Authenticate you when you log into your account;
  3. Process and fulfill requests for products or services;
  4. Communicate with you about products or services;
  5. Promote relevant products or services you may be interested in;
  6. Customize our website, products, and services to your preferences;
  7. Improve our products and services;
  8. Optimize the performance of our products or services;
  9. Communicate with you about customer service issues; and
  10. Protect the security and integrity of our website, products, and services.

When do we collect Personal Data?

Your personal data may be collected in one of the following circumstances:

  • When you try or purchase our software or services
  • When you create an account on one of our websites
  • When you use one of our services
  • When you contact us for customer service
  • When you sign-up for our promotional materials and activities
  • When you speak with us at an event
  • When you visit one of our websites

Visible Internet uses a variety of automatic data collection tools, including cookies, web beacons, embedded web links, and other commonly used information-gathering tools. Visible Internet’s full cookie policy is available here. These tools collect certain standard information that your browser sends to our website such as your browser type, language preference, access times, and the address of the website from which you arrived at our site.

These tools may also collect information such as (IP) address, clickstream behavior (what elements you click on our webpages), and pages visited within our website domains. When a visitor requests a page from any website within Visible Internet’s network, our web servers recognize the visitor’s domain name and IP address.

When you receive emails from Visible Internet, we use embedded links to track the effectiveness of our marketing initiatives, such as whether you have opened the email or clicked a link within it. Visible Internet also collects information from credible third-party sources that are commercially or and/or publicly available. This information may include your name, address, email address, and demographic data which may be may be used along with the information Visible Internet collects when you visit Visible Internet’s network.

We also work closely with third-party advertising networks, analytics providers, hosting providers, and search information providers from whom we may receive general aggregated anonymous information about you. We will combine the information you provide to us with information we collect about you.

Occasionally, Visible Internet may obtain additional personal information from a third-party provider, but only in circumstances when you have consented to the third-party to pass on your details to us and when we believe our products or services are relevant to you.

Who Can Access Your Personal Data?

Visible Internet complies with Australian Privacy laws to ensure all data remains within the borders of Australia and only accessible within Australian borders. Visible Internet does share, reveal, send or publish your personal information to an overseas recipient.

How do we Protect You Data?

We follow strict security measures and procedures to protect your data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered, or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors, and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

However, please remember that the transmission of information via the internet is never completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you or any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

We have installed secure-server software which encrypts all Personal Data. The encryption process takes the characters entered on the website and the Visible Internet App and converts them into bits of code that are then securely transmitted over the Internet. This is done using Secure Socket Layer certificates. As a result, if you provide us with any personal or financial details, no information will be transferred unencrypted.

As a condition of employment, Visible Internet employees are required to follow all applicable laws and regulations, including in relation to data protection law.

When you contact a Visible Internet employee in relation to your Visible Internet account, you may be asked for your personal information. This type of safeguard is designed to ensure that only you, or someone authorized by you, has access to your personal information.

How Long do we Retain the Data?

We will only retain your personal information for as long as is necessary to carry out the purpose for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data, and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means and the applicable legal requirements.

Visible Internet shall store the following personal data relating to a parent or child:

  • name;
  • class;
  • teachers;
  • year level; and
  • screenshots.

This data will be promptly deleted from the live Visible Internet server by Visible Internet upon the termination of a Visible Internet account or where deletion is requested by you (please see paragraph 9 for your right to erasure). This personal data is then deleted from the Visible Internet automatic backup system 12 months following the date of the account termination or request.

Any data which is retained for a period longer than 12 months, which for example may include keyboard outputs, is anonymized.

In some circumstances, we may anonymize your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

Student Data

Visible Internet may collect the following information:  student name, email, the class name. Student data is collected only when a school has a Visible Internet license and is collected only through the Visible Internet applications.

All data in transit and data at rest are protected using industry-standard encryption. Industry-standard secure access controls are implemented for data at rest. We maintain information security measures designed to protect data from unauthorized disclosure or access.  We use administrative, technical, and physical procedures to limit access to data to those employees who require it to perform their job functions.

We do not sell student data.  We do not use student data for marketing purposes, including behaviorally targeted advertising.  Student data is only used for educational purposes, and student data is never shared with third parties.

Student data retention:  We keep student data only as long as necessary for audit and reporting purposes, up to a maximum of 12 months.


The following requests can be sent by a student or teacher to their school admin in charge of the Visible Internet account:

  1. Request to change or update information such as name, email address, class/class handled, and year level.
  2. Complain if there is a suspected data/privacy breach.
  3. Request to delete personal data if the student or teacher is no longer affiliated with the school and should be resolved within three (3) months with no additional charge.

Please take note of the following when sending requests:

  1. The school admin can only access the data of a student or teacher affiliated with the school. 
  2. The teacher can only request data modification for a student in his/her class.
  3. Screenshots are stored in the database for only ninety (90) days or three (3) months.
  4. Once the data has been deleted, the data can no longer be restored. Should the student/teacher wish to continue using Visible Internet after their accounts have been deleted, they should undergo the installation process once again.
